In the 19 th and 20 th centuries, paper theatres were one of the toys that really inspired children's imagination. Even poor families could afford these theaters and bring the brilliant theatres of the world to their homes. Let's enter the paper theatre stage and relive childhood memories from long ago.

「Ghost House」-An Exhibition of Puppets and Ghosts
Everybody is sometimes afraid of the dark, afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what we can't see, afraid of what happens after people die. Where do they go? Do they go to heaven or hell, do they meet gods or ghost or are they reborn again.
In this exhibition we will take you into the darkness . We will understand the religious concepts about ghosts in Chinese culture and the close relation between religion and theatre through a unique display of 19 th century shadow puppets, marionettes and glove puppets. |
